North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Programme

The North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service is part of the National Breast Screening Programme and provides a free breast screening service for eligible well women in North Lancashire and South Cumbria. Invitations for breast screening are sent automatically to all women every three years from the age of 50, up until their 71st birthday. Women aged 71 or over can contact their breast screening unit to make an appointment every 3 years. The intention of the screening programme is to detect breast cancer at an early stage when there is a better chance of successful treatment.
